Terráquea Band and the sucess at Phoenix Jazz

The Banda Terráquea concert at Phoenix Jazz Festival on May 13th,2013, is right up there with my favorite rock, blues, and MPB concerts as one of the most memorable I’ve attended. For starters, the venue was perfect. When it came to logistics and technical details, the festival at Projeto Tamar, Praia do Forte, was organized so that no inconveniences could distract the audience from the music. Oh, and did I mention it was at the beach?

Because of the aforementioned production, I could clearly enjoy each drum pound, horn solo, and lyric to the fullest. I can therefore state that Banda Terráquea boasts not only technical perfection, but that extra “something” that you can’t quite put your finger on. With a diverse repertoire including funk, blues, and heavy percussion from the state of Bahia, Banda Terráquea immediately established a surreal vibe on stage and exchanged energy with the audience. One of the things that caught my attention the most was the versatility of the musicians, who were often switching roles amongst themselves in order to fully take advantage of their talents and ultimately benefit each song. That surprise element made each tune unique and even more energetic.

If you’re looking for an innovative yet familiar sound, I highly recommend catching a Banda Terráquea concert, because they are bringing an amazing show suitable for all audiences every night.
