Vítor Magalhães

Vítor Magalhães is a professional bassist and musician from Salvador, whose artistry is defined by his versatility and a fluid transition across different styles of contemporary music. His body of work spans blues, rock, jazz, soul, reggae, and Brazilian music, carving out a signature style that masterfully combines rhythmic precision, deep musicality, and tight interaction with the ensemble.

Throughout his artistic journey, Vítor has collaborated with various projects in the Salvador music scene, performing both in live concerts and studio recordings. In 2017, for instance, he backed the vocalist Lorenight during a concert series at the Fera Palace alongside pianist Shande Moura, delivering a repertoire that bridged international classics and MPB (Brazilian Popular Music).

His contribution is also prominent within original artist projects. Vítor recorded the basslines for guitarist and songwriter Tik’s debut EP, released in 2020, playing on every track alongside Banda Terráquea’s own drummer, Victor Brasil. The record fuses rock, jazz, and indie rock references, highlighting the bassist’s sharp ability to fluidly navigate distinct musical languages within a single production.

Vítor has also collaborated with other prominent names in the Bahian indie scene, such as songwriter Thiago Brandão, featuring on the track ‘Estação Esperança.’ These immersive experiences further solidify his reputation as a highly versatile studio session musician and live instrumentalist.

Within Banda Terráquea, Vítor holds down the bass, anchoring a lineup dedicated to the convergence of North American Rhythm & Blues, blues, soul, and rock with Brazilian and Afro-Bahian musical traditions.
His history with the band dates back to at least 2019, when Terráquea performed at the Teatro da Cidade in Salvador for a landmark concert merging live music with environmental awareness. On that occasion, Vítor featured as the group’s bassist alongside Lon Bové, Jair Rocha, Ivanzinho Santos, Luiz Rocha, Gabriel Bové, and the Terráquea Horns.
The bass plays a pivotal role in this sonic blend. It is the core instrument establishing the bridge between harmony and rhythm, effortlessly sustaining both the signature R&B and blues grooves and the rich rhythmic texture delivered by Bahian percussion.
